The Diversity of Eastern Europe

Eastern and Central European films provide exciting insights

Films from Eastern and Central Europe are rarely to be found in our cinemas. Many Eastern European cinematographies have a long tradition from which masterpieces that are recognized worldwide have emerged, but since the changed political conditions the attention has shifted. These films can contribute a lot to cultural and political dialogue, at least to some extent relativize the polarization of political discourse under the influence of populism. Our collection gives an insight into the variety of Eastern and Central European films, shows differences, but also similarities of worldviews from East and West. Sometimes it even shows how the films subtly question social certainties.
